OurSpace was co-organiser of the 15th National Meeting of the National Parliament of Children and Youth held in Prague from 16 to 19 November 2012. The participants were young people aged 12 to 20 and their total number amounted to 70. The main topic of the meeting was Democracy in the Eyes of Young People.
During the meeting, the participants discussed and voted on the network OurSpace about the possibility to vote from the age of 16. The highlight of the meeting was a life discussion with presidential candidates (4 official candidates attended).

The 7th OurSpace Meeting took place in Athens, Greece on November 22nd-23rd, 2012, hosted by NTUA.
Greek Youth Media join their forces for the first time on Thursday 29 November 2012, 19:00am at the athenian Free Thinking Zone (Skoufa 64 str & Grivaion, 10680 Athens Greece) and they invite you to discuss for the youth, our relation with politics and democracy in times of crisis . The OurSpace workshop will be held in coorganisation with the biggest greek youth media based in Athens (neoalia.gr, foititikos palmos, press-gr.blogspot.gr, Ypovrixio.gr, tokaleidoskopio.gr, Cafebabel Greece).
The publishers, editors-in-chief of youth media will give their perspective over youth and politics relation nowadays and e-participation.
During the workshop the Ourspace project and platform will be presented by Elina Makri (Cafebabel Greece). The OurSpace workshop will be the first ever event to gather all media youth leaders around the same table.Politicians and decision makers will be invited to attend the workshop-debate.

Under the motto “Ending the Crisis”, the European Youth Parliament will bring together 300 young people from 36 countries in Amsterdam from 2 until 11 November 2012. More about the theme can be found here.
The Session in the Dutch capital marks the 71th International Session of the European Youth Parliament, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year after being founded in France in 1987 (www.eyp.org).
The young delegates – aged 16 to 22 – will debate topics that are on the European agenda at the very moment. A special focus of this conference will be on the economic crisis and ways in which to end it. The topics can be found here.
The event starts with Teambuilding and Committee Work before moving on to the General Assembly held on November 9th and 10th. At this stage, the youngsters will debate and vote on resolutions they have drafted in international committee. These resolutions will be sent on to Members of the European Parliament and other partners.
His Royal Highness Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands, European Commissioner for Climate Change Connie Hedegaard and Vice President of the European Parliament Rainer Wieland will visit and address the delegates.

The European Youth Parliament is one of the largest platforms for political debate, intercultural encounters, political educational work and the exchange of ideas among young people in Europe. It consists of a network of organizations in 36 countries, in which thousands of young people are active in a voluntary capacity. OurSpace was presented at the Offentliga Rummet 2012, an annual Swedish ICT conference during key note speech delivered by Dr Julia Glidden (21c) and titled: ‘Turning Turtles into Gazelles: Can the Public Sector Support “Smart” Citizen-Genreated Services’ examining how government authorities, county councils, regions and local authorities can improve accessibility and broaden citizen participation in the public sector, both with the help of new technology and by starting to think along new lines. Pupils of Sir-Karl-Popper-Schule/Wiedner Gymnasium school class learned about OurSpace and the possibilites to participate online. They were introduced to the platform by Clara Landler (DUK), learned how to use it and the goals of the project were discussed. For the presentation parts of a prezi-presentation (http://prezi.com/on5e54whgg86/ourspace/) were used as well, as a google doc with all relevant URLs. For further information every participant got an handout describing OurSpace and contact possibilities for further cooperation.
OurSpace held a workshop entitled “Closing the Gap: Engaging Young People in EU Affairs” in partnership with CEDEM11, Krems, Austria. The objective was to bring together decision makers, youth organizations involved in national and EU policies, eParticipation initiatives and projects involving youngsters to tackle the issue of closing the democratic gap and engaging young people in EU affairs. Dr Julia Glidden from 21c presented the OurSpace project during the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2012, in Manama, Bahrain, on 9th-11th April 2012. More than 400 hundred attended the conference among them ITC representatives, senior public sector officers, business leaders, experts from local bodies that benchmark eGovernment performances at local, regional and international levels.
